Why Replacement Shoes Are Not Free (And How Our Pricing Works):
We’ve had a few questions about what happens if a horse loses or throws a shoe, so we want to clarify our policy and explain how our shoe programs are structured.
1. Two Product Paths: Custom vs. Pre-Designed
We offer two types of shoes:
A) Custom Therapeutic Shoes
Designed specifically for one horse, based on:
- Measurements and gait analysis
- Hoof geometry
- Pathology or performance needs
- Iterative CAD refinement
Farrier coordination
These require a Design & Fit Fee because they involve professional engineering time and individualized development.
B) Pre-Designed Standard Shoes
These are:
- Pre-engineered designs
- Available in common sizes and configurations
- No custom CAD work required
- No design fee
They are a good option for owners who want a high-quality solution without the cost of a fully custom program.
2. Adhesive Application Is the Farrier’s Responsibility
If a shoe comes loose or is lost, this is almost always due to:
- Adhesive condition (age, storage, mixing)
- Application technique
- Environmental conditions
- Horse activity
We do not control the adhesive process, so we cannot warranty against shoes being thrown during normal use.
3. Replacement Shoes Are Not Free
In traditional farriery, owners typically pay to replace a lost shoe.
The same applies here.
Each replacement requires:
- Material
- Machine time
- Labor
- Quality control
On a case-by-case basis, we may offer reprints at a reduced cost, but replacements are not free.
4. Design & Fit Fee (Custom Program Only)
The design and fitting process is a one-time professional service.
Once the geometry is finalized, additional pairs are faster and more affordable.
This ensures we can continue offering:
- Proper engineering time
- High-quality materials
- Reliable production
- Ongoing support
Pre-designed shoes do not require a design fee.
5. Our Goal
Our goal is not to be the cheapest option, Our goal is to provide:
- Thoughtfully engineered footwear
- Therapeutic and performance solutions
- Professional accountability
- Long-term reliability
We appreciate everyone who supports that mission.
If you have questions about pricing, design options, or which program is right for your horse, feel free to ask, we’re happy to explain.
